MODNITSA

Beans of the Modnitsa variety are an early-maturing bush variety with plant height of about 40-50 cm. The flowers on the plant are purple, and the pods reach a length of up to 18 cm, have a wide shape and an attractive mottled coloring with burgundy-purple streaks. An important feature of the variety is the absence of a parchment layer and coarse fibers in the pod walls, which makes them especially tender and pleasant to the taste. The beans are white with purple mottling and medium or strong intensity of veining, medium to large size. Up to 70-75 pods mature simultaneously on one plant, which ensures high yield.

The Modnitsa variety belongs to sugar (asparagus) beans, which are eaten raw whole, making them popular for home cooking. The pods are suitable for seasonal preparations such as canning and freezing, while maintaining their taste qualities. The yield of the variety is approximately 1.8-2 kg per square meter, indicating its high productivity.

For successful cultivation of Modnitsa beans, it is recommended to sow in open ground after the end of spring frosts, at the end of May – beginning of June, at a depth of 2-3 cm with rows 40x10 cm. Also possible is seedling cultivation with sowing in early May and transplanting seedlings in early June. Timely watering, regular weeding, soil loosening, and fertilizing with mineral fertilizers are necessary to ensure good growth and abundant fruiting. Modnitsa beans are an excellent choice for those who value early harvest, high quality, and versatility of use.
