Description TSKHA 4
TSKHA 4 is a mid-season spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) variety of the nutans type, intended for grain-feed and brewing use. The plant is medium-sized with an intermediate bush type, distinguished by its lodging resistance comparable to standard varieties. The vegetative period is 66-87 days, allowing the variety to mature a few days earlier or later than similar varieties such as Ataman and Elf. The ear is pyramidally-cylindrical in shape with medium density and a strong waxy coating; the grain varies from medium to very large size, ensuring high grain quality and attractiveness. TSKHA 4 is characterized by good drought resistance and moderate resistance to diseases such as net blotch and root rot. The variety exhibits high resistance to powdery scald and moderate resistance to black and common scald, contributing to stable yields. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 36 to 54 grams, and protein content varies from 9% to 13.9%, making it valuable for producing high-quality grain with high lysine content and an extractive value of 79-81%. Yield in approved regions averages 27.2-45.3 c/ha, with maximum figures reaching up to 58.8 c/ha, confirming its adaptability and productivity under various climatic conditions. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Central, Northwestern, and Volga-Vyatsk regions, including the Kaluga region, where it demonstrates increased yield compared to standard varieties. Due to its quality characteristics and resistance to adverse factors, TSKHA 4 is a promising choice for farmers focused on producing high-quality grain for feed and brewing. Its features, such as a strong waxy coating on leaf sheaths and medium intensity of anthocyanin pigmentation, also contribute to its adaptation and stability in field conditions.
