Skhidnyi Barley: Proven Genetics for Sustainable Yields

The Skhidnyi barley variety, developed by the Donetsk Institute of Agro-Industrial Production (UAAS), represents a stable solution for spring cultivation. Positioned as a two-row barley, it has earned its reputation in regions facing volatile weather, offering a reliable harvest profile characterized by durability and consistent grain quality.

Agronomic Strengths and Adaptability

With an impressive winter hardiness rating of 8, Skhidnyi demonstrates superior resilience against early-season temperature swings. Its morphological traits include a compact plant height of 60–70 cm, which significantly reduces lodging risk, ensuring that the crop remains upright even under high nitrogen input regimes.

• Growth Cycle: The variety offers a flexible vegetation period ranging from 90 to 120 days, allowing farmers to adjust their seeding schedule based on local soil moisture availability.
• Grain Quality: With a thousand-seed weight (TSW) between 48 and 50 grams, Skhidnyi delivers high-quality grain suitable for various agricultural applications.

Disease Resistance

In addition to its yield potential, Skhidnyi provides robust resistance to wheat leaf rust and powdery mildew. This built-in biological protection helps reduce the need for intensive fungicide applications, making it an economically efficient choice for modern farms. By combining physical stability with strong disease resistance, Skhidnyi continues to be a go-to option for producers focusing on risk management and stable output in challenging environments.
