OMSK 96 is a two-row, hulled variety of spring barley, distinguished by its early maturity and high adaptability to various climatic conditions. The vegetative period lasts 66-75 days, allowing the variety to mature 4-5 days earlier than mid-early analogues. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 43-54 grams, indicating good grain development and quality. The variety belongs to the nodding type and is primarily intended for grain-feed use. OMSK 96 is characterized by high protein (14.2-16.0%), fat (approx. 2.33%), and starch (56.5%) content, ensuring high grain quality. The variety demonstrates high yield, with a maximum indicator reaching 5.04 t/ha. Additionally, it possesses enhanced drought resistance, making it particularly valuable for cultivation in the West Siberian region. However, the variety is susceptible to certain diseases such as common bunt, net form of loose smut, powdery bunt, and root rots, requiring attention during agronomic activities.
