Winter barley variety Casanova is an early, versatile variety intended for both feed and brewing purposes. It is characterized by its low stature and high winter hardiness, ensuring successful cultivation under various climatic conditions. The variety exhibits good drought tolerance, high seed mass and uniformity, as well as high resistance to lodging, which is especially important under adverse weather conditions. Casanova forms a two-rowed, dense ear with high thousand-grain weight, contributing to high-quality yields.
This barley variety has a high yield potential, reaching up to 8.5 tons per hectare under optimal agronomic conditions, including timely sowing and adequate mineral fertilization in the soil. The seeding rate is 3.5-4.5 million seeds per hectare. The vegetative period is marked by intensive growth after the emergence of the flag leaf, which facilitates rapid development and yield formation. Casanova demonstrates high tolerance to major barley diseases such as rust, powdery mildew, and net blotch, as well as moderate resistance to snow mold.
The variety is successfully grown throughout Ukraine, including regions such as Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Chmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv. Seeds are packaged in bags of 20, 25, and 40 kilograms, which is convenient for various scales of agricultural production. Thanks to its agronomic characteristics and universal use, Casanova barley is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality grain and stable yields.
