ISYMEN

ISYMEN is a mid-season spring barley variety intended for food, feed, and malting purposes. The vegetative period is about 80 days, ensuring early heading and maturation. Plants of this variety are characterized by compact, short-stem growth with good lodging resistance. Thousand-kernel weight is high, indicating grain size and quality. Protein content in the grain reaches 13.01%, and starch is 59.57%, which ensures excellent cereal properties and a high sensory evaluation of pearl barley and porridge.

The ISYMEN variety differs in high resistance to main barley diseases, including powdery mildew and rhynchosporium, and weak susceptibility to helminthosporium, as well as medium resistance to root rot. These characteristics make it a reliable choice for growing in various regions, including the Central Black Earth, Middle Volga, and Western Siberia. The variety yield is stable and above average, with indicators of about 60-63 centners per hectare, and up to 96 centners per hectare under favorable conditions.

For optimal growing, it is recommended to sow ISYMEN in April with a sowing rate of 230 to 320 seeds per square meter depending on sowing dates. Fertilizer application includes pre-sowing nitrogen application in an amount of 80 kg/ha and additional application of 40–80 kg/ha in the stem elongation phase. To protect plants, fungicides and growth regulators such as mepyquat-chloride and ethephon are used, which contributes to increased disease resistance and improved yield structure. Due to its qualities and adaptability, the ISYMEN variety is a profitable and reliable choice for agrarians.
