DN Rostok is a mid-late simple maize hybrid developed by the Institute of Grain Crops of the Steppe Zone of the NAAS. Its breeding focus is centered on stability and adaptability within the challenging climate of Ukraine. With a maturity cycle of 140–160 days, it is designed for maximum biomass accumulation, making it a reliable solution for both grain production and high-quality silage.

Grain Morphology and Phytosanitary Resilience

The flint-type grain structure provides excellent physical integrity, which is essential for storage and feed value. Genetic resistance is deeply integrated into this hybrid, providing a robust defense against major agronomic threats:

• Head smut and common smut: Built-in tolerance reduces reliance on intensive fungicide programs.
• Fusarium: The dense grain architecture creates a natural barrier against fungal infection.

Field Management Recommendations

To maximize the potential of DN Rostok, a planting density of 55,000–60,000 plants per hectare is advised.
