Winter barley Borisfen belongs to early-maturing varieties and is recommended for cultivation in the Polesie and Forest-Steppe zones. It is characterized by high cold and drought resistance, making it suitable for regions with insufficient moisture and harsh winters. The ear is six-rowed, medium density, and cylindrical in shape, with a protein content in grain reaching 14.5%. The variety possesses genetic resistance to major diseases such as powdery mildew and leaf spot diseases, enhancing its reliability in agronomic terms. To protect against head diseases and root rots, seed treatment with fungicidal protectants is recommended.

Borisfen responds well to the application of mineral fertilizers, particularly phosphorus-potassium fertilizers, which are applied during primary soil cultivation. The variety also positively reacts to residual fertilizers applied to the previous crop, which contributes to increased yield and improved grain quality.

Winter barley Borisfen is an important crop for crop rotation in risky farming areas due to its adaptability to sowing dates, moisture, and temperature conditions. Winter barley forms its harvest 10–12 days earlier than winter wheat, enabling effective use of agronomic resources. The variety is suitable for various purposes: flour production, feed, and brewing industry, ensuring a stable and high yield.
