Winter barley variety Seym is a high-yielding two-row variety recommended for cultivation in the Steppe and Polissia regions. This medium-maturing variety has a growth period from emergence to heading of about 219 days, allowing it to successfully adapt to the climatic conditions of these zones. The maximum yield of this variety reaches 82.6 centners per hectare, with average yields of 57.3 centners per hectare in the Steppe and 50.3 centners per hectare in Polissia. The variety is well-suited for intensive cultivation technologies, making it an attractive choice for modern agricultural enterprises.
Seym variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness, exceeding average indicators, as well as drought and lodging resistance, confirmed by ratings of 6-8 points. Additionally, it exhibits good resistance to powdery mildew and leaf spot diseases, contributing to plant health and stable yields. Grain quality is also high: the 1000-grain weight ranges from 42.6 to 49.6 grams, and protein content is within the range of 13.1–14.0%, making the grain suitable for feed use.
Morphologically, Seym variety is medium-height, approximately 98-101 cm tall, with a semi-panicle plant habit and good branching both in autumn and spring. Leaves are green, the lower sheath is weakly hairy, and the flag leaf sheath is covered with a strong waxy coating. The ear is six-rowed, cylindrical, of medium length 7-9 cm, light-yellow in color with long, serrated, slightly spreading awns. The grain is light-yellow, elliptical in shape and medium-sized. Seeds are supplied in 50 kg bags, with a minimum order quantity of 1000 kg. The manufacturer guarantees product quality according to standard DSTU 2240-93.
