Talan

The Tалан spring barley variety is a mid-early grain-fodder variety recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe and sub-taiga zones of the West Siberian region, including the Sub-taiga, Northern and Southern forest-steppe of Novosibirsk Oblast. The vegetative period ranges from 67 to 85 days, allowing for effective use of the variety under Siberian climate conditions. Plants are of medium height, ranging from 34 to 63 cm, with semi-erect or semi-drooping cylindrical ears 6-9 cm long, covered with a waxy bloom. The ear is two-rowed and loose, which promotes good ventilation and reduces the risk of diseases.

The grain of the Tалан variety is large, yellow-gray in color, with a 1000-grain mass ranging from 41-54 g. Protein content in the grain varies from 10.9 to 16.3%, making it valuable for fodder purposes. The variety is characterized by resistance to lodging and moderate resistance to dusty and powdery mildew, as well as striped smut. However, it is susceptible to helminthosporiosis and root rots, which requires attention during agrotechnical measures.

The average yield of the Tалан variety in the West Siberian region is about 5.28 tons/ha, with maximum indicators up to 6.37 tons/ha and even 6.77 tons/ha in favorable years. These characteristics make the variety attractive for agricultural producers seeking to obtain a stable and high yield of barley. Due to its agronomic and biological properties, the Tалан variety is widely used in grain and fodder production, providing quality raw material for feeding animals.
