Apple Winter Gold

Robust Performance for Cold-Climate Orchards

The 'Winter Gold' variety, developed by the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine, is a winter apple cultivar designed for growers who prioritize tree resilience and low-maintenance requirements. This variety is particularly valued for its exceptional winter hardiness, making it a reliable asset in regions with challenging growing conditions.

Orchard Management and Practical Application

As a medium-vigor tree with a rounded, spreading crown, 'Winter Gold' is easy to manage. Pruning and canopy maintenance are straightforward, saving labor costs during the seasonal upkeep. The tree structure is sturdy enough to support a consistent crop load without the need for extensive structural reinforcements.

• Fruit Profile: The fruits are compact, weighing up to 50 grams, and feature a distinct yellow skin without a blush.
• Post-Harvest Potential: The primary economic benefit of 'Winter Gold' is its excellent storage capability. The fruit maintains quality for extended periods in standard storage, allowing farmers to market their produce during the peak winter pricing window.
• Use Cases: Ideal for small-to-medium orchards focusing on niche market distribution, direct-to-consumer sales, or processing. Its size makes it a convenient option for high-quality dried fruit production and juice processing.

Incorporating 'Winter Gold' into your planting scheme provides a solid hedge against climate risks. While other varieties may suffer from frost damage, this cultivar maintains productivity, ensuring that your orchard remains profitable and stable year after year.
