Apple Original

Legacy of the Zhigulevskie Sady: The Original Apple Variety

The apple variety "Original" is a breeding development from the Research Institute "Zhigulevskie Sady," designed for gardeners who value classic summer varieties with predictable results. Its origins are deeply rooted in the climatic conditions of the Middle Volga region, which has endowed the variety with a significant advantage: excellent winter hardiness. Unlike many introduced varieties, the "Original" performs confidently in moderate climates without requiring radical winter protection measures for the tree.

Agricultural Characteristics

In the orchard, the tree behaves in a predictable manner: it is a medium-sized cultivar with a wide, spreading crown of rounded shape. This tree structure facilitates access to the fruit during harvest and allows for efficient sanitary and formative pruning. The fruits fall into the large-fruited category for summer varieties, with their weight consistently ranging from 150 to 200 grams.

Visually, the apples are recognizable by the absence of a pronounced blush, as they possess an even, clean color. The internal quality is also up to standards: the flesh is white, juicy, and features a texture characteristic of summer varieties. Given its ripening period, this variety is an ideal choice for early consumption, as well as for making desserts and preserves immediately after picking.

Market Position

Today, the "Original" variety occupies a niche as a reliable "workhorse" for private and commercial orchards. While it does not claim to be exotic, it compensates with consistent yields and straightforward cultivation requirements. For the grower, this translates to a perfect balance between labor costs and the quality of the harvested product.
