Description Kuybyshevskoye
Winter variety developed by S. P. Kedrin at the Samara Experimental Station for Horticulture through hybridization of Antonovka saffron with Pepin London. The variety is included in the State Register for the Middle Volga region.

Trees are vigorous, with a broad-conical crown. The crown has moderate density and does not require heavy pruning. Main branches are thick, branching off from the trunk at a blunt angle. Bark is gray-brown. Bud dormancy and bud-forming capacity are high. Fruit set is concentrated on ring-like structures.

Shoots are moderately thick, somewhat curved, medium- or strongly hairy, brown. Leaves are medium-sized, oval with a tapered tip. Leaf margin is toothed, slightly raised, with a slight curvature along the central vein. Upper leaf surface is matte, lower surface is moderately hairy. Stipules are medium-sized, sickle-shaped. Two-year-old saplings in the nursery are tall, upper branches branch off at 60-80 degree angles. Short shoots, resembling thorns, often form on the central branch. The variety performs excellently when grown on dwarfing rootstocks.

Fruits are medium-sized, averaging 150 g on young trees, 110-130 g on mature trees, with a maximum of 300 g. Fruit shape is flat-round, regular. Five ridges are clearly visible on the fruit surface near the calyx. Wide ridges may be present throughout the fruit. Skin is shiny, smooth, medium-thick. Main color during consumer ripeness is intense yellow. Some fruits have a brownish-red blush, like a tan, covering up to 1/3 of the surface. Skin spots are white, medium-sized, weakly expressed. Peduncle is short, medium or thick, emerging from the middle depth of a wide cup. Cup edges are often ribbed with corking, not exceeding the cup's boundary. Calyx is large or medium, open. Receptacle is wide and relatively small. Sub-calyx tube is conical, smooth, sometimes merging with seed chambers. Seed cavity is medium-sized, bulbous, seed chambers half-open or open.
Fruit flesh is creamy, fine-grained, juicy, tender, with excellent to outstanding sweet-sour flavor and aromatic.
Fruits are marketable, harvested in the second decade of September, and can be stored until February and beyond.
Begins fruiting at 5-6 years. Young trees fruit annually, while mature trees often show alternate bearing. Yield is high, higher than Antonovka ordinary.
The variety is winter-hardy. Resistance of fruits and leaves to scab is below average.

Advantages of the variety: marketable fruits with juicy, tender flesh and excellent sweet-sour flavor.

Disadvantages of the variety: insufficient resistance to scab and fruit rot.
