KANKR

The Kankr apple is an indigenous Crimean and North Caucasian variety of the home orchard apple, belonging to the syp group and characterized by autumn and late-autumn fruit ripening. The tree is of medium height with a wide, rounded crown, reaching 4-5 meters in maturity. Leaves are dark green, oval-shaped with pointed tips, giving the plant a decorative appearance. Fruits have a round-oval or elongated-cylindrical shape with a conical top and bottom, weighing from 120 to 180 grams. The apple skin is yellowish-green with a washed-out pink-red blush on the sunny side, while the flesh is cream-white or yellowish-white, dense, juicy, and tender with a sweet-sour taste that becomes more pronounced upon full maturity.

The Kankr variety is distinguished by high yield, reaching from 200 to 300 kg from one tree or about 33.7 centners per hectare, making it attractive for both commercial cultivation and private gardeners. The apple tree begins bearing fruit 3-4 years after planting and maintains stable fruiting for 15-25 years with proper care. Harvesting takes place in late August to early September or September, depending on the region and climatic conditions.

One of the key advantages of the variety is its high resistance to major apple diseases, such as brown spot, powdery mildew, and scab, as well as good tolerance to drought and frost. These qualities ensure reliability and longevity of the tree in various climatic conditions, especially in the North Caucasian region and Crimea. Due to the combination of high productivity, excellent fruit taste, and disease resistance, the Kankr apple tree deserves its popularity among gardeners.
