The Amaranthus rubinus 'Ruby' variety is an annual plant with upright, robust stems reaching heights of 90 to 130 centimeters. Its distinguishing feature is the long, drooping panicle inflorescences in carmine-red color, measuring 50 to 80 centimeters in length, which give the plant a vivid decorative appearance. Thanks to these striking flowers and inflorescence shape, amaranthus is widely used for decorating flower beds, flower gardens, and fences, as well as for cutting and creating dried bouquets.
The plant is heat-loving and prefers wind-protected areas, which promotes its successful growth and development. Growing 'Ruby' amaranthus is possible either by sowing seeds for seedlings in April followed by transplanting into open ground in May-June, or by direct sowing into the ground in May. Due to its unpretentiousness and decorative qualities, amaranthus is recommended for single and group plantings, as well as for decorating walls and fences.
In addition to decorative properties, 'Ruby' amaranthus belongs to agricultural crops and is rich in vitamins and minerals, making it beneficial for humans. It is grown not only in open ground but also in greenhouses, which expands the possibilities of using this plant in greening and decorative gardening.
