In regions with hot, dry climates, Inula requires regular watering, although the volume is reduced in the second half of summer to encourage better tissue hardening and prepare the plant for the dormant period.
The primary yield indicator for Inula is the mass of its roots, which are harvested in the second or third year of the plant's life. Dried raw material yields can reach between 15 and 25 centners per hectare when proper agrotechnology is followed.
The accumulation of biologically active substances in the rhizomes peaks by the autumn of the third year of development; therefore, earlier harvesting is economically disadvantageous due to the low concentration of beneficial components.
Economic use of the crop includes applications in the pharmaceutical industry and traditional medicine. Its roots are a source of inulin, essential oils, and alkaloids, which possess anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties.
Besides its medicinal value, Inula hybrids are prized in landscape design as large decorative plants with bright yellow inflorescences, capable of serving as a focal point in perennial flower beds.
Yield stability depends on the quality of the planting material and the absence of phytopathogens in the field, so it is recommended to follow crop rotation, returning the plant to the same area no sooner than every 4–5 years.
Typical diseases affecting Inula hybrids include powdery mildew, which manifests under conditions of high air humidity and poor air circulation between plants.
Root rot is the most dangerous pathology, often caused by excessive soil moisture or damage by soil-dwelling pests.

Disease prevention includes timely removal of plant residues, weed control, and sanitary treatment of the crops with approved fungicides upon the first signs of infestation.
Root harvesting is carried out at the end of the growing season when the aerial part of the plant begins to yellow and wither, typically in September or October.
The rhizomes are carefully dug up, cleaned of soil, washed in running water, and trimmed of stems and small rootlets that hold no medicinal value.
The prepared raw material is cut into 10–15 centimeter pieces and dried in well-ventilated rooms or specialized dryers at temperatures not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
