Sowing of Anthemis under agricultural conditions is typically carried out in spring when the soil warms up to 10–12°C. In southern regions, winter sowing is possible, which facilitates better seed stratification.

The optimal planting depth is 0.5–1 cm, as the seeds are small and sensitive to dense soil layers. To ensure uniform emergence, it is recommended to use row seeding with inter-row spacing of approximately 30–45 cm.
During the germination phase, it is crucial to maintain moderate soil moisture in the top horizon to prevent soil crusting. If sowing is too dense, thinning is required to provide sufficient space for each plant to develop.
Seedlings usually emerge 12–15 days after sowing under favorable temperature conditions. Regular weeding within the first month after emergence is critical for the successful establishment of the crop.
Using high-quality seeds with strong germination vigor allows for significantly higher plant density per hectare. Crop rotation involving Anthemis requires a break of 3–4 years before returning the crop to the same field.
Anthemis belongs to the Asteraceae family and is a light-loving plant that does not tolerate shading well. The most favorable sites for growth are open, sunny areas with good ventilation.
The crop prefers light, sandy loam, or loamy soils with a neutral or slightly alkaline reaction. Waterlogging and high soil acidity have a severely negative impact on root system and biomass development.
The plant is highly drought-tolerant, but for the production of high-quality medicinal material or seeds, adequate moisture during the budding and flowering phases is essential. Excessive nitrogen fertilization can decrease the concentration of active components.
In its natural habitat, Anthemis grows throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caucasus, adapting to steppe and semi-desert conditions. It is well-adapted to sharp diurnal temperature fluctuations during the summer period.
Agricultural practices require periodic inter-row cultivation to improve root aeration and break the capillaries that lead to moisture evaporation. The optimal pH level for successful cultivation ranges from 6.5 to 7.5.
The main threat to Anthemis comes from fungal diseases, such as powdery mildew, which spreads rapidly in conditions of high humidity and poor air circulation.
Seedlings are often affected by fusarium wilt, which leads to mass mortality of crops at early stages. Seed treatment and strict irrigation management are recommended as preventative measures.
Among pests, aphids and various types of true bugs cause the most significant damage by sucking sap from young inflorescences and leaves. This leads to plant organ deformation and reduced productivity.
In dense stands, root rot caused by soil pathogens can also occur. Control methods involve the application of targeted fungicides and sound crop rotation management.
Timely diagnostics and the use of biopesticides allow for effective pest management without compromising the quality of the harvested produce.
