Botanically, the culture is distinguished by its small, dense pseudobulbs that produce single, leathery leaves with a distinctive mottled pattern. The primary feature is the elongated inflorescence stalk, capable of producing blooms for several years, sequentially revealing flowers that resemble exotic butterflies.

Successful cultivation requires stable daytime temperatures between 20–26 °C, with moderate cooling at night. These plants demand high relative humidity, ranging from 60% to 80%, alongside consistent air circulation to prevent the development of various fungal pathogens.

The substrate must provide excellent aeration, typically consisting of conifer bark, sphagnum moss, charcoal, and perlite. The root system is highly sensitive to waterlogging, necessitating the use of pots with adequate drainage holes and a porous substrate composition to prevent root rot.

Bright, filtered light is essential for healthy development, as direct sun will scorch the foliage. It is recommended to use grow lights or place the plants in east- or west-facing locations, ensuring a light cycle of at least 12 hours to support continuous vegetative growth and flowering.

The main pests threatening this orchid are spider mites and mealybugs, which tend to proliferate in low-humidity conditions. These pests feed on plant sap, damaging delicate tissues and weakening the plant's overall resistance to diseases.

Overwatering, especially in cooler conditions, inevitably leads to root and pseudobulb rot. Fungal infections require immediate intervention, including repotting into fresh substrate, pruning affected areas, and applying appropriate systemic fungicides to restore plant vitality.
