TIMERKHAN

Timerkhan is a mid-late variety of spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), bred at the Tatarstan Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture. It is characterized by a vegetative period of 76 to 90 days and a 1000-grain weight ranging from 42 to 56 grams. The plant is medium-height with a cylindrical spike of medium density, covered with a waxy coating, as well as long barbed awns with anthocyanin coloring. The grain is large and very large, with a non-hairy ventral groove. The variety belongs to the nautans type and has an intermediate bush type. Timerkhan is distinguished by high yields, which in the Republic of Tatarstan reached 45.8-72.3 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding regional averages. The variety is resistant to unfavorable weather conditions, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in the Middle Volga region. However, it is susceptible to certain diseases, such as powdery bunt and helminthosporium, which requires attention in agronomic measures. This barley is versatile in application: it is suitable both for grain silage production and for brewing, expanding its use in agriculture and the food industry. Thanks to its biological and economic characteristics, Timerkhan is a promising variety for increasing barley productivity and quality in regions with similar climatic conditions.
