Orion

The Orion apple variety is a late-autumn, high-yielding variety that begins bearing fruit as early as its third year. The trees are medium-sized and exhibit high resistance to diseases, especially scab, allowing them to be grown even without chemical treatments — particularly valuable for organic farming. This variety was obtained by crossing Golden Delicious and Otava, which has endowed it with unique characteristics and high disease resistance.

The fruits of the Orion apple are large, weighing approximately 200-250 grams, round in shape, with a light green color and distinct yellowing. During storage, the apples develop a reddish blush, enhancing their visual appeal. The flesh is creamy with a yellow tint, dense, very juicy, and crisp. The flavor is harmonious, sweet-tart with high sugar content (Brix over 16), making the apples especially delicious and aromatic.

Harvesting occurs in the first decade of October, yet the fruits retain their quality and market appearance until April, ensuring long-term storage and good transportability. Due to these qualities, the Orion variety is an excellent choice for those who value early fruiting, high yield, and fruit quality suitable for long-term storage and fresh consumption.
