Wheat LG Optimist

Yield consistency in intensive farming

When selecting winter wheat, balancing genetic yield potential with field robustness is the ultimate goal. The LG Optimist variety by Limagrain brings a French breeding perspective to the table, focusing on a strong agronomic profile that handles intensive management with ease. As a soft wheat variety, it is designed for growers who demand predictability and high returns of up to 8–9 tonnes per hectare.

Field Performance and Handling

With a plant height of 80–90 cm, LG Optimist is exceptionally well-suited for modern harvesting equipment. Its good lodging resistance ensures that even with heavy fertilization, the crop remains upright, minimizing mechanical losses during the harvest. The 90–100 day vegetation period provides a reliable window for planning field operations, allowing for efficient management throughout the growing season.

Disease Resistance and Winter Hardiness

The standout feature of LG Optimist is its phytosanitary package. Built-in resistance to yellow rust, brown rust, septoria, and fusarium head blight allows producers to optimize their fungicide programs effectively. This means lower chemical costs and reduced risk of quality loss during the critical grain-filling period. With a winter hardiness rating of 7–8 points, the variety demonstrates excellent resilience against cold stress, ensuring a consistent stand density coming out of winter.
