KENOBI

Hard wheat variety KENOBI, developed by the Italian company Apsovsementi S.p.A. and registered in the Ukrainian Variety Register in 2023, is intended for cultivation in southern regions of the country, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia zones. This medium-maturing variety with a vegetation period of approximately 96 days is characterized by high winter hardiness and drought tolerance, enabling it to maintain yield even under water deficit. Plant height reaches 90 cm, and the ear is easily threshable, facilitating harvest.

KENOBI exhibits high resistance to lodging and a broad spectrum of diseases, including mildew, septoria, yellow and brown rust, powdery mildew, Fusarium ear rot, as well as pests such as the wheat fly and the shield bug. The variety is designed for intensive cultivation techniques, requiring a seeding rate of approximately 5 million germinating seeds per hectare, and seed treatment with fungicides and insecticides prior to sowing is recommended to protect against diseases and pests.

The grain of variety KENOBI is characterized by high quality: 1000-grain weight ranges from 50.8 to 52.6 g, gluten content varies from 31 to 34 %, and protein content from 13.5 to 15.5 %. The test weight of the grain is 820–840 g/L, confirming its high nutritional value. The potential yield of this variety reaches 9.1 t/ha, making it attractive for producing high-quality food-grade grain.
