DON 93

DON 93 is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with a medium-early maturity period and a vegetative period ranging from 217 to 298 days. The plants are of medium height, with a height ranging from 87 to 113 cm, and a 1000-kernel weight within the range of 34-45 g. The variety is characterized by medium winter hardiness and resistance to lodging, although its resistance to lodging is somewhat lower than that of the Odessa Albatross variety. DON 93 possesses good drought resistance and is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Rostov region, as well as the Forest Steppe and Polesye zones of Ukraine. The ear of the variety is cylindrical with a spindle-shaped apex, straw-yellow in color, awned, and 7-9 cm long. It is high-yielding due to high branching — from 530 to 570 stems per square meter, as well as well-filled ears and well-developed kernels. Potential yield reaches 6.5-7.0 tons per hectare, and in some regions, the yield can reach up to 52 centners/ha. The kernel is red in color, with a protein content of 12.3-13.2% and raw gluten of 20-30%. Flour strength is 282 condition units, which ensures good and excellent baking qualities, with an overall rating of 4.0 points. The variety is resistant to powdery mildew, yellow and stem rust, as well as powdery mildew, but is susceptible to brown rust, septoria, and especially to glume blotch. For protection, seed treatment and fungicide treatments are recommended. DON 93 is a strong wheat suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, providing stable yields and high-quality grain, making it an attractive choice for agricultural producers.
