Watermelon Teytum

Technical Overview of Tatum Hybrid

The Tatum watermelon by Innova Seeds (USA) is a high-performance Crimson Sweet type hybrid designed to balance early maturity with substantial marketable yields. With a vegetation period of 60–70 days, this variety is engineered for producers targeting early-season market windows while maintaining premium fruit quality.

Structural Performance

The fruit features an oval-round shape, providing durability during handling and palletizing, which is a major advantage for commercial logistics. A standout technical feature is the "small-seed" trait: by reducing the size and number of seeds within the seed cavities, the fruit achieves a denser, more consistent texture, increasing the overall eating quality of the flesh.

Yield and Development

Tatum excels in biomass accumulation, consistently producing fruit in the 9.0–12.0 kg range. The deep red color of the flesh is indicative of stable lycopene synthesis, ensuring the fruit holds its attractive color through the supply chain. This hybrid is optimized for uniform development, minimizing variation between harvests and providing a reliable yield for fresh-market sales.
