Cantaloupe Top Mara F1 is an early-maturing hybrid of the Crimson Sweet type, developed by United Genetics, an American breeding company. The vegetative period of this variety is 60–65 days, allowing for harvest within a short time. The plant is vigorous, with a well-developed root system and dense foliage that effectively shields the fruit from ultraviolet radiation. The hybrid adapts well to dry conditions, but under moderate irrigation and with the application of complex fertilizers, it demonstrates more vigorous growth and fruit set.
The fruits of Top Mara F1 are round-oval in shape, with an average weight ranging from 11 to 14 kg, though some specimens can weigh up to 16 kg. The rind is light green with dark or light stripes, dense and thick, ensuring excellent storage and long-distance transportation without damage. The flesh is bright red, crisp, and highly sugary — 12–14% on the Brix scale — fiber-free with a small seed cavity containing dark seeds. Due to its vibrant color and flavor, the melon stands out on the market.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to diseases such as Fusarium, Alternaria, and Anthracnose, significantly simplifying care and enhancing harvest reliability. Top Mara F1 is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and protected environments. The harvest withstands storage under cool and dark conditions and is well-suited for bulk transportation. Melons of this variety are widely used not only for fresh consumption but also for pickling, canning, and processing.
