Elza watermelon is a medium-maturing variety with a sprawling plant and a long main tendril. Leaves are of medium size, gray-green in color, slightly dissected and wrinkled. Fruits are cylindrical in shape with a thin rind and a weight ranging from 6 to 12 kg. The fruit coloration varies from pale to light green with blurred narrow light green stripes. The flesh is pink-red, of medium density, and differs in its good to excellent taste. Seeds are of medium size, black, and featureless. The yield of marketable fruits is about 4.1 kg per square meter.
The variety tolerates air drought well and has medium transportability, making it convenient for growing and marketing. Elza watermelon is suitable for cultivation in personal subsidiary holdings and is characterized by its resistance to unfavorable environmental conditions. Thanks to its characteristics, it is in demand on the fresh market.
It is important to note that Elza watermelon is different from Elza F1 tomato, which is an early hybrid of an indeterminate tomato with red fruits weighing about 120-150 grams and intended for closed ground. Elza watermelon is an independent variety with large fruits and other agricultural technical features.
