Shany watermelon is an early hybrid of the Crimson Sweet type, characterized by a short maturation period — 63-65 days after transplanting seedlings and 75-80 days from germination. The plant features vigorous growth, a well-developed leafy canopy that effectively protects fruits from sunburn, and a robust root system ensuring full nutrient uptake from the soil. Thanks to these features, the hybrid is adaptable to various growing conditions and capable of forming 1-2 large fruits weighing 8-12 kg, making it attractive for farmers and gardeners. Shany watermelon fruits have a round or slightly oval shape with striped, smooth, and moderately thick rind (1.5-2 cm thick). The flesh is bright red, dense, crisp, and very sweet, with sugar content up to 12%, ensuring excellent taste quality. The watermelon exhibits good transportability and storability, allowing it to be stored in the field for extended periods and retain its quality during transport. Due to these characteristics, Shany is widely used for fresh market sales, food processing, and pickling. The Shany hybrid shows high resistance to major watermelon diseases such as Fusarium wilt (races 0 and 1) and anthracnose (race 1), significantly simplifying care and increasing yield. For cultivation, seedling method and drip irrigation during the first third of the vegetative period are recommended, promoting rapid development and adaptation to various climatic conditions. Shany watermelon seeds are pre-treated and coated with a protective layer, ensuring high germination rate and growth energy without additional preparation before planting.
