Description Chumak
Chumak melon is a medium-ripening variety, maturing within 80-95 days from germination. The fruits have a round-oval shape with a smooth surface and distinctive white color with spiny light-salad stripes. Average weight of melons ranges from 3 to 6 kilograms, with medium-thick rind providing good protection for the fruit. The flesh is pink, dense, juicy, and sweet, with light-cream-colored seeds of medium size. The Chumak variety is characterized by high resistance to various diseases such as melon aphid and fusarium wilt, as well as high cold tolerance and resistance to overripening. Due to these qualities, the melons maintain their market properties for extended storage — over 60 days — making them an excellent choice for transport and sale. Yield reaches 40-45 tons per hectare, with fruit marketability around 90%. For successful cultivation of the Chumak variety, it is recommended to sow seeds at soil temperature +18-20 °C, at a depth of 3-5 cm, with a seeding rate of 0.2-0.3 g per square meter. The crop is warm- and light-loving, preferring light, fertile soils. The long-vining melon requires proper care and conditions for maximum expression of its qualities, ensuring the harvest of large, juicy, flavorful fruits with excellent market appearance.
