Description Kuban
Common Hazel «Kuban» is a hazel variety known for its high yield and delicious, large, round nuts that can be harvested in the second half of August. The plant features an oval crown that is not too dense, making it an attractive decorative element for any plot.

Kuban demonstrates excellent resistance to various soil conditions: it grows well on loams as well as sandy soils, withstands wind loads and frosts. At the same time, the plant prefers moist and fertile soils but is not afraid of partial shade, allowing it to be used in living fences or as a solitary decorative tree.

Floristic features include early spring flowering before leaf emergence. On the bush, golden staminate catkins up to 5 cm long appear, along with pistillate flowers consisting of four bifid stamens. The fruit is an oval or spherical nut about 2 cm long, enclosed in a bell-shaped light green husk with a hairy involucre. Each infructescence typically contains 3 to 4 nuts, but sometimes up to 30.

For those who wish to transform the bush into a tree, it is sufficient to leave only one strong shoot; this simplifies care and enhances the plant's aesthetic value. Care for «Kuban» includes loosening the root zone, mulching, and watering during dry periods. The plant is unpretentious regarding soils and can be used as a pollinator for other hazel varieties.
