Variety from the Donetsk branch of the Institute of Horticulture of UAAN, obtained by sowing seeds of Droghana yellow, which grew among Melitopolsk cherry varieties in Novoselidovsk GSSU. Author L.I. Tarankenko. Included in the State Register in 1997 for the North Caucasus region.
Tree is strong-growing, with a rounded, well-branched crown. Shoots are thick, slightly arched, brown. Leaves are medium-sized, egg-shaped, dark green, shiny, with large serrated margins.
Fruits are dark red, almost black, oval-rounded, slightly conical, weighing 7-8 g, of good taste. Peduncle is medium-length and thickness. Pit is oval-rounded, medium size, easily separates from flesh. Taste rating is good — 4-4.5 points. Fruits contain dry matter — up to 24.39%, sugars — 13.76%, acids — 0.8%, ascorbic acid — 2.64 mg/100g. Canned products of excellent quality (4.8-5 points), with very pleasant aroma and red, non-browning juice. Variety is of universal use.
Ripening period is medium-early (3 days after Valeriy Chkalov). Pollinators: good — Donchanka, Donetsk Red Beauty, Valeriy Chkalov, Valeria, Annushka; medium — Donetsk Uglek, Droghana yellow, Aelita, Etika, Melitopolsk Early.
Tree enters fruiting at 4-5 years and yields high yields — up to 1 centner per 10-year-old tree. Yield is 119 centners/ha. Winter hardiness is increased. Cold resistance of wood and flower buds is not lower than Droghana yellow. Resistance to coccomycosis is high, to fungal diseases — medium.
Advantages of the variety: high cold resistance, drought resistance, high yield, good fruiting type, excellent canning qualities.
Disadvantages: medium resistance to fungal diseases.
