Tulip Sunny

A Bright Statement for the Spring Garden

The 'Solnyshko' (Sun) tulip is the result of extensive breeding work by the Agro-Industrial Society 'Taitsy' and the V.L. Komarov Botanical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Developed by experts Alla Kuklina and Gennady Firsov, this variety stands out due to its complex, multifaceted color palette—a striking blend of yellow, pink, red, and orange tones that makes it appear as if it is glowing against the spring greenery.

Technical Specifications and Appearance

Reaching a height of 35–45 cm, 'Solnyshko' features the ideal proportions for a classic tulip: tall enough for impactful floral arrangements, yet resilient against spring winds. Its fringed petals provide significant volume and texture, distinguishing it from smooth, goblet-shaped alternatives. An added benefit is its moderate fragrance, a trait increasingly rare among modern ornamental hybrids.

Who Should Choose the 'Solnyshko' Variety?

• For Professional Florists: The high aesthetic appeal makes this tulip a top choice for commercial cut flowers, as the fringed edges maintain freshness and structural integrity in bouquets.
• For Landscape Designers: Perfect for creating vibrant color accents in mixed borders or for the foreground of flower beds.
• For Home Gardeners: The variety shows excellent adaptability to local climates, thanks to its rigorous selection process at the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The strength of this variety lies in its unique coloring and dense bud structure. However, it is important to note that fringed tulips require more careful soil moisture management to keep their intricate, lace-like petal edges in perfect condition. 'Solnyshko' is an excellent choice for those who value not just aesthetic brightness, but the scientific rigor behind breeding resilient and reliable plant material.
