Description Red Emperor
Tulip Red Emperor, also known as Madame Lefeber, is one of the best mid-season varieties belonging to the Fosterian tulip group (Division 13 - Fosteriana Tulips). This variety was bred in the early 20th century and remains popular among gardeners due to its vibrant coloration and elegant flower shape. The name translates as "Red Emperor," which perfectly matches its striking appearance.

The flowers are simple, with elongated buds and bell-shaped tepals in bright red with a dark center. The cup height reaches about 7 cm. When opened on a sunny day, the center of the flower reveals a yellowish center, yellowish-green stamens, and light purple anthers. The flowers lack fragrance, and the blooming period lasts from 9 to 16 days. The stems are hairy, often dark at the top, and the broad leaves have a gray-green hue.

Red Emperor grows to 35-40 cm in height and is ideal for creating borders, planting in flower beds, and containers. It pairs beautifully with early-blooming bulbous plants and violets, especially striking when paired with the yellow-flowered tulip Golden Emperor. It is recommended to plant bulbs in groups of 5 or more at a depth of 15 cm with spacing of about 10 cm. This variety is also excellent for cutting, with a multiplication rate of 4.
