Tulip Mascotte

Genetic Architecture and Plant Protection

The Mascotte tulip is a breeding achievement where the decorative appeal of the Fringed class meets robust field performance. The key technical component of this variety is its specific resistance to root system pathogens. Unlike many other fringed tulips sensitive to fungal infections, Mascotte exhibits significant resistance to Verticillium and Fusarium wilt. This is achieved through the dense structure of the bulb's outer scales and a specific metabolic response to soil-borne pathogens.

Morphological and Phenological Parameters

• Class: Fringed. A distinctive feature is the deeply serrated, "needle-like" fringe along the petal edges, creating a lace-like visual effect.
• Coloration: A complex gradient of lilac and pink spectra. The pigmentation remains stable under moderate temperature fluctuations during the budding phase.
• Flowering Time: Late-blooming type. The vegetation cycle is optimized to avoid late spring frosts, ensuring consistent development.
• Habitus: The medium height of the stem provides the necessary leverage to support the large, heavy bloom, preventing lodging even under high humidity conditions.

Practical application of this variety is highly effective in landscaping and mid-cycle forcing. Its resistance to Fusarium makes this tulip a reliable choice for sites with limited crop rotation, where the buildup of soil pathogens poses a critical risk factor.
