Tulip Matterhorn

Stability and Elegance: The Matterhorn Tulip

Matterhorn is a standout representative of the Triumph tulip class, widely regarded as the gold standard for commercial forcing. Unlike more temperamental early-blooming varieties, this tulip features a robust, medium-height stem, providing the structural integrity needed to prevent lodging in both greenhouse and field conditions.

Key Advantages for Cultivation

• Disease Resistance: The variety exhibits strong resistance to common threats such as Alternaria, downy mildew (peronospora), and Fusarium wilt. This inherent toughness significantly lowers production risks and the need for intensive fungicide applications, ensuring a higher percentage of marketable blooms.
• Color Profile: Its elegant cream-colored petals offer a sophisticated alternative to pure white varieties. The soft tone blends seamlessly into floral arrangements, providing the neutral, warm aesthetic currently in high demand for premium retail markets.
• Forcing Reliability: As a mid-season bloomer, Matterhorn is predictable and easy to manage, allowing growers to time their harvests precisely for peak market windows without sacrificing petal quality.

Why Choose Matterhorn?

For professional growers, Matterhorn represents a balance between aesthetic appeal and biological resilience. It is an ideal choice for those looking to minimize crop failure caused by bulb-borne diseases. While it requires standard professional care, its forgiving nature makes it a highly efficient "workhorse" variety. Whether you are scaling up production or seeking a dependable cream-colored classic, Matterhorn provides the consistency necessary for profitable flower production.
