Tulip Margaret Herbst

Reliable Tulip for Professional Landscaping

The Greigii tulip 'Margaret Herbst' is a robust choice for those prioritizing durability and vivid color in early spring displays. Known for its steady performance, this variety is particularly valued in professional landscape design for its ability to withstand windy conditions, making it ideal for open, exposed sites where taller varieties might suffer damage.

Practical Applications and Management

• Bedding and Border Design. Its compact height and sturdy stem structure allow for precise placement in the foreground of flower beds, providing a vibrant, reliable red focal point without the need for additional staking.
• Container Gardening. 'Margaret Herbst' adapts well to containerized production. Its predictable growth habit makes it a professional choice for patio pots and movable installations.
• Succession Planting. Due to its mid-season blooming window, this tulip serves as a vital bridge in the garden, bridging the gap between early botanical tulips and later-blooming classes.

When implementing 'Margaret Herbst' into your planting scheme, prioritize well-drained soil. Like all Greigii tulips, it is susceptible to bulb rot if moisture levels remain too high during the dormant phase. Successful cultivation relies on site selection—full sun exposure is key to maximizing both the color intensity and the bulb's energy reserves for the following season. With proper management, this cultivar proves to be a cost-effective perennial option for gardens and public green spaces alike.
