Tulip King Kong

A Legend Among Triumph Tulips

The 'King Kong' variety holds a distinct niche in the segment of classic red 'Triumph' class tulips. Its breeding focused on solving a major challenge for commercial flower growers: the low resistance to fungal diseases under intensive cultivation conditions. This tulip has become a reliable tool for professional greenhouses where predictable results are paramount.

Agrotechnical Profile

The core value of 'King Kong' lies in its immunity. Breeders have achieved significant resistance to a complex of dangerous pathogens:

• Fusarium wilt: minimal losses during storage and forcing.
• Downy mildew: high endurance in high-humidity environments.
• Anthracnose and bacteriosis: reliable protection for the stem and bulb.

The plant exhibits a medium height typical of the 'Triumph' group, making it easy to transport and arrange in bouquets. The petal color is a deep, classic red that retains its vibrancy even after prolonged storage as a cut flower.

Market Positioning

Unlike more demanding exhibition varieties, 'King Kong' is a workhorse for mid-season blooming. It is frequently chosen for mass market supply for spring holidays, as the variety handles temperature fluctuations and high-density planting exceptionally well. In landscape design, it is valued for its stability: the strong stem does not droop under spring winds, and the flower maintains its shape even after full opening.
