Tulip Isis

Lacy Elegance in Deep Lilac

The 'Isis' tulip distinguishes itself within the fringed category through a rare combination of visual drama and late-season performance. Unlike early-spring cultivars, this variety peaks when the main flush of tulips is fading, effectively extending the gardening season. The hallmark of 'Isis' is its intricate needle-like fringe on the petal edges. Combined with a rich lilac hue, this creates a sophisticated, ethereal appearance that makes the flower a commanding presence in any garden bed.

Agronomic Robustness

Beyond aesthetics, the 'Isis' is engineered for resilience. It displays a remarkable natural resistance to common bulb killers, including downy mildew, phomopsis, phoma, and sunflower rust. This trait is particularly valuable for growers in humid climates, as it significantly reduces the reliance on systemic fungicides. With a tall, sturdy stem, the plant maintains its upright posture even under wind or rain, making it an excellent candidate for both mass landscaping and commercial cut-flower production.

Is 'Isis' Right for You?

• For Cut-Flower Growers: Its long shelf life and unique texture provide a premium look that commands higher market value.
• For Landscape Designers: The tall stature and distinct color profile allow for excellent layering in mixed borders.
• For Home Gardeners: This variety is ideal for those seeking low-maintenance perennials that do not require constant monitoring for fungal pathogens.

While highly resistant to disease, the 'Isis' is sun-loving. Optimal coloration and structural integrity require full sun exposure and well-drained, fertile soil. In shaded environments, the lilac intensity may mute, and stems may become unnecessarily elongated.
