Tulip Ice Age

The Ice Age Tulip: Late-Season Elegance

In the competitive world of floral bulbs, the 'Ice Age' tulip holds a distinguished position. As a late-flowering double tulip, it serves as a grand finale to the spring garden. Its standout feature is the striking petal coloration, which blends crisp, arctic white with deep, moody violet. This contrast makes it a preferred choice for landscape architects looking for dramatic, high-impact spring displays.

Performance and Agricultural Resilience

While many double tulips are prized primarily for their beauty, 'Ice Age' is engineered for performance. Its place in the market is defined by a robust profile that addresses the most common failures found in late-blooming varieties:

• Pathogen Resistance: The variety exhibits strong genetic resistance to fusarium wilt and cladosporiosis, significantly reducing the risk of bulb loss during wet planting seasons.
• Virus Defense: 'Ice Age' is notably resilient against the Tomato Mosaic Virus, ensuring that the health of the bulb stocks remains high over several seasons.
• Nematode Tolerance: Resistance to root-knot nematodes makes this cultivar a reliable performer in soil conditions that might otherwise compromise less hardy varieties.

With an average height, 'Ice Age' is perfectly suited for mid-border plantings. Its sturdy stems ensure that the heavy, multi-petaled blooms remain upright, even in challenging spring weather. For growers and gardeners alike, this variety represents the perfect synthesis of ornamental sophistication and hard-wearing reliability, securing its reputation as a consistent performer in the premium bulb market.
