Tulip Green Valley

Engineering analysis of the Green Valley phenotype

The Green Valley tulip, belonging to the Viridiflora class, is a product of selective breeding focused on integrating stable chlorophyll pigments into the perianth structure. Unlike conventional tulips, where coloration is purely anthocyanin-based, this cultivar utilizes a distinct "green vein"—a thickened central part of the petal segment enriched with chloroplasts.

Structural and physiological parameters

• Pigmentation mechanism: The characteristic combination of deep red base tones with vivid green stripes is driven by chloroplast density. This structural feature does more than dictate color; it increases petal turgor, resulting in a fibrous and robust texture that retains its shape significantly longer than standard cultivars.
• Growth dynamics: As a mid-season bloomer, Green Valley fills a crucial operational niche. Its moderate height is supported by strong stem architecture, providing high resistance to lodging—a critical requirement for both professional landscaping and commercial cut-flower production.
• Environmental adaptability: The metabolic traits inherent in the Viridiflora class grant Green Valley an extended decorative lifespan. The plant shows high resilience to temperature fluctuations during the budding and blooming phases, reducing the risk of petal scorch under intense spring sunlight.

Practically, Green Valley functions as a structural anchor for the mid-tier layer of garden beds. Its dense petal composition allows it to withstand environmental stresses such as wind and rain while maintaining structural integrity in complex floral arrangements.
