Iris SALYAM

The Architectural Design of 'Salam' Iris

Developed by the Ufa Federal Research Center of the RAS, the 'Salam' iris stands as a prime example of functional aesthetics in ornamental horticulture. Its technical configuration focuses on the synergy between plant habit and color intensity.

Biometric Profile

The bloom stalk reaches a height of 50–70 cm. For both commercial nursery production and private landscaping, this provides an optimal structural ratio. The stalk exhibits sufficient mechanical strength to support the blooms without requiring external staking, maintaining a balanced silhouette within any garden design.

Color Dynamics and Pigmentation

The defining feature of 'Salam' is its distinct dichromatic color scheme. The petals integrate deep purple hues with vibrant yellow accents. Technically, this contrast is driven by a high concentration of anthocyanins balanced against carotenoid pigments. In practical application, this ensures high visual impact and color clarity, making the cultivar an effective focal point in mixed floral borders.

Adaptability and Genetic Resilience

As a product of the Ufa Federal Research Center, the variety is bred for resilience against regional climatic stressors. Unlike many imported cultivars, 'Salam' features an adapted metabolism that allows it to withstand significant temperature fluctuations while retaining color purity and tissue turgor. This intrinsic hardiness makes it a robust option for low-maintenance planting schemes.
