Tulip Ellen Willmott

Bud Architecture and Structural Integrity

The Ellen Willmott tulip is a quintessential example of the lily-flowered class. The primary technical feature of this hybrid is the specific geometry of its perianth. The elongated, pointed tepals, when fully opened, gracefully reflex outward, creating a silhouette reminiscent of a lily. This design provides both aesthetic elegance and structural durability, which is essential for commercial flower production.

Agronomic Specifications

• Class: Lily-flowered. This group is recognized for superior stem rigidity, providing excellent resistance to lodging even under high growth conditions.
• Bloom Timing: Late-season bloomer. The plant develops during extended daylight hours, which facilitates intense yellow pigment saturation in the petals.
• Growth Parameters: Tall-growing cultivar. The robust stem architecture supports the flower head, while a deep-reaching root system optimizes nutrient uptake from the lower soil horizons.

Operational Guidelines for Cultivation

The combination of significant stem height and refined bud shape makes this cultivar a preferred choice for professional floristry. To maximize yield and stem quality, it is recommended to maintain planting densities that ensure optimal soil aeration, thereby mitigating the risk of fungal pathogens. The variety requires well-drained substrates; water stagnation in the bulb zone during the late vegetation phase is contraindicated, as it may cause physiological defects and stem weakness.
