Tulip Mrs. John T. Scheepers

A Benchmark in Dutch Breeding

The 'Mrs. John T. Scheepers' tulip is widely regarded as the gold standard among late-season single tulips. Developed in the early 20th century, this variety has maintained its reputation for decades as one of the most reliable and aesthetically pleasing yellow tulips in landscape design. Its legacy is tied to the renowned Dutch horticultural firm John Scheepers, known for its commitment to high-quality bulb production.

Why Growers Trust This Variety

• Stately Height: With stems reaching 60–70 cm, these tulips are perfect for the middle or back of mixed borders, providing excellent vertical structure.
• Impeccable Form: The perfectly oval-shaped cup holds its tension and shape remarkably well, even during warmer spring weather.
• Radiant Hue: The intense, pure yellow color of the petals is a classic sight, free from unwanted streaking or variegation.

In the market, this tulip is prized for its longevity. Unlike many modern hybrids that may require annual lifting and storage, 'Mrs. John T. Scheepers' is noted for its hardiness and ability to naturalize effectively in garden settings. This makes it a preferred choice for public parks and private estates where long-term visual impact is required. Florists also favor this variety for cut flower arrangements, as its sturdy stem and long-lasting blooms offer superior vase life compared to more delicate late-season counterparts.
