Tulip Elsie

Biological Profile and Morphology

The 'Elsie' tulip is categorized as a Single Late variety. Its key technical feature lies in the architecture of the bloom: the dense, classically formed petals of a delicate pink hue maintain their structural integrity throughout the flowering cycle. The medium-height stem provides an ideal balance between flexibility and rigidity, making the cultivar suitable for both professional cut flower production and landscaping.

Phytosanitary Resilience

A major advantage of 'Elsie' is its genetic resistance to a complex of pathogens typically impacting bulbs. Selective breeding has focused on limiting the impact of downy mildew (peronospora), phomopsis, phomosis, and rust. Resistance to rust is particularly critical in humid conditions, where fungal spores pose the highest threat. These characteristics significantly reduce the need for intensive fungicide applications, optimizing production costs and improving the overall sustainability of the crop.

Cultivation and Performance

As a late-flowering variety, 'Elsie' extends the decorative season. The plant exhibits excellent adaptability to various soil types, provided that drainage is managed correctly. The intense pigmentation of the petals is resistant to fading under direct sunlight, ensuring the floral displays maintain their high aesthetic quality until the end of the vegetation cycle.
