Tulip Batavia

Technical Profile of the 'Batavia' Tulip

A classic representative of the Single Late tulip group, 'Batavia' demonstrates development stability typical of Long-stem segment breeding solutions. The biological strategy of this cultivar relies on a slowed metabolism, ensuring an extended blooming period in late spring.

Biological Architecture and Resilience

A crucial component of this tulip's profile is its high resistance to specific pathogens. Unlike many other cultivars, 'Batavia' possesses built-in genetic protection against lettuce mosaic virus and downy mildew. This is critical when cultivating in high-humidity conditions or dense plantings. This solution minimizes the need for heavy fungicide application and maintains foliage health throughout the vegetation cycle.

Structural Features of Bloom

• Coloration: Deep orange pigment with high resistance to photodegradation (fading under direct UV rays).
• Habitus: A tall, sturdy stem with high break resistance, making it an ideal choice for both commercial cut flower production and exposed, windy landscape sites.
• Flowering Phase: Late season. Due to the slow opening of the goblet, the cultivar demonstrates excellent transportability and long-lasting shape retention.

The practical application of 'Batavia' focuses on landscape design with an emphasis on the late season when maintaining visual dynamics in the flowerbed is essential, as well as professional floriculture where stem reliability and color purity are prioritized.
