Tulip Ballade Orange

Technical Specifications and Morphology

The 'Ballade Orange' tulip belongs to the lily-flowered class, defined by its distinctive silhouette. The elongated, pointed petals with a characteristic outward curve provide more than just aesthetic appeal; this structural design reduces wind resistance, granting the stem superior mechanical stability in the field. This specific architecture makes the flower less prone to lodging compared to larger, heavy-headed varieties.

Disease Resistance and Biological Integrity

Breeding efforts for 'Ballade Orange' have prioritized high-level resistance to the most destructive pathogens, ensuring reliable performance in varying environmental conditions:

• Fungal Pathogen Resistance: The cultivar exhibits robust tolerance to Fusarium and Verticillium wilt, significantly reducing the risk of root rot in soils prone to water retention.
• Viral and Foliar Protection: It shows genetic resilience to Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) and Cladosporium leaf spot. This biological resistance minimizes the need for frequent fungicide applications, protecting the integrity of the bulb for subsequent cycles.

Production Insights

Classified as a late-blooming variety, 'Ballade Orange' features a tall, sturdy stem with dense vascular tissue, making it a high-quality candidate for commercial cut flower production. The intense orange pigmentation is highly photostable, resisting UV-induced fading, which ensures the blooms maintain their vibrant hue throughout the duration of their flowering phase.
