The spring triticale variety «Savva» is intended for producing fodder and food-grade grain used in the manufacture of confectionery and bakery products. This early variety is characterized by a medium-height, erect plant with high spike productivity and medium bushiness. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 42.3 to 46 grams, indicating high grain quality. The variety has been successfully registered and recommended for cultivation in the Central, Volga-Vyatskaya, Central Black Earth, and North Caucasian regions of Russia.
«Savva» is distinguished by high yield, which, according to the originator's data, exceeds 100 centners of grain per hectare, and in practical trials reached 29.5 c/ha, which is 2.2 c higher than the average yield of the studied varieties. Due to the high biological value and fodder qualities of the grain, the variety can be used as a backup crop under unfavorable winter conditions. The vegetative period of the variety is medium-ripening, which allows for effective planning of agrotechnical measures.
Agrotechnical characteristics of the variety include high resistance to lodging and shattering, as well as high drought resistance. The variety possesses resistance to major diseases such as brown and yellow rust, viral infections, as well as medium resistance to septoria, leaf spots, and head blight. Flour made from «Savva» grain is suitable for baking cookies, cakes, and rye bread, expanding its application possibilities in the food industry.
