These characteristics make Lyubomir especially valuable for biofuel production, particularly bioethanol, as confirmed by research conducted at the Institute of Agronomy of NAAN from 2019 to 2022.
The development and evaluation of the Lyubomir variety are based on a comprehensive approach, including field trials to determine winter hardiness and disease resistance, as well as laboratory methods for grain quality analysis. An important part of the breeding work is the use of indices of deviation from the 'adaptive norm', which allows identifying valuable genetic sources for further improvement of triticale varieties suitable for biofuel processing.
