Triticale Lyubomir

Engineering Potential of Winter Triticale "Lyubomyr"

Developed by the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agriculture of NAAS," this cultivar is a specialized solution for farmers focused on high-intensity production of forage and food grain. "Lyubomyr" was engineered to address climatic instability by merging the genetic potential of wheat and rye to form resilient biomass.

Agronomic Metrics and Morphology

• Tillering Type: Intensive branching provides high stem density, which is critical for weed suppression during the early spring period.
• Stress Tolerance: The breeding focus is on winter hardiness and drought tolerance. The cultivar's genetic architecture minimizes the risks of freezing during sharp temperature fluctuations in the autumn-winter cycle.
• Pathogen Resistance: The cultivar demonstrates high resistance to a complex of fungal diseases (leaf rust, septoria), reducing the fungicide load per hectare.

The practical value of "Lyubomyr" lies in its morphophysiological plasticity. The plant efficiently transforms soil nutrients into grain mass even in areas with lower soil quality. The protein and gluten content allows the cultivar to be used not only in livestock farming but also for milling needs when proper fertilization technologies are applied.

Under field trial conditions, the cultivar confirms yield stability due to a robust root system capable of effectively absorbing moisture from deeper soil horizons. For an agronomist, this means predictable outcomes in harvest planning and optimization of sowing logistics.
