Purple Heart

Purple Heart is a mid-season tomato variety distinguished by a unique combination of compact growth, high yield, and exceptional flavor. Time to maturity is 70-80 days after transplanting seedlings. The plant belongs to the 'Gnome' (Dwarf) series, but in height it is closer to medium-growing varieties, reaching up to 1.2-1.4 meters in open ground. Plants are bushy, with thick stems, vigorous and spreading, with strong foliage and deeply wrinkled leaves. Pinching is not necessary, as all suckers are productive, but partial pinching can be done if desired to increase fruit mass.

The fruits of the Purple Heart tomato have a characteristic heart-shaped form and a rich purple-red or purple-magenta color with a wine tint and a small olive spot at the stem end. Fruit weight varies from 100 to 200 grams, though specimens up to 400-450 grams are occasionally found. The flesh is dense, succulent, jelly-like, and oily, with a tangy-sweet flavor and a light fruity aroma. The fruit skin is tough and does not crack, contributing to good fruit storage.

This variety is ideal for cultivation both in open ground and on balconies or in small gardens. Due to its compactness and high yield, Purple Heart is popular for fresh consumption and for making thick, flavorful juices and ketchups.
