Tomato Pokusa

Maximizing Yield: The Practicality of 'Pokusa' Tomatoes

For commercial growers focused on the fresh market and the 'cherry' tomato segment, the 'Pokusa' variety from 'Svityaz' offers a strategic balance between early maturity and high output. As an indeterminate crop, it demands proper vertical training and pruning, but the reward—reaching 70–100 tons per hectare—justifies the intensive management required for professional operations.

Operational Advantages for Growers

• Logistics and Market Readiness: The 20–40 gram round fruits feature a robust skin texture, ensuring superior transportability. This is critical for producers supplying regional distributors or retail chains.
• Extended Shelf Life: With a storage potential exceeding 30 days, growers gain the flexibility to hold inventory, avoiding the need for "fire sales" during market price fluctuations.

Reaching maturity in under 90 days, 'Pokusa' fits well into tight production schedules. The uniform red, round fruits are ideal for tray packaging, facilitating efficient post-harvest handling. This variety is best suited for greenhouse environments or film tunnels, where controlled conditions allow the plant to maximize its genetic potential for high-volume, high-quality yields.
