Tomato FRAMBO

Technological Potential of the Frambo Hybrid

The Israeli breeding company Hazera offers commercial vegetable growers a high-performance solution tailored for consistent production in the plum tomato segment. The indeterminate growth habit of Frambo (120–130 days of maturity) requires precise canopy management, but the yield potential of 70–100 tons per hectare justifies an intensive cultivation strategy.

Genetic Phytosanitary Protection

The foundation of this hybrid's productivity lies in its resistance to a complex of diseases that often undermine crop profitability in both open-field and greenhouse environments. The genetically engineered tolerance to three critical pathogens mitigates the risk of premature vegetative mass loss:

• Fusarium Wilt: Protects the root system during periods of heat stress.
• Verticillium Wilt: Prevents vascular blockage, which is essential for extended harvest cycles.
• Tomato Mosaic Virus: Minimizes losses caused by mechanical stress during cultivation.

Fruit Morphology and Logistics Advantages

With an average weight of 60–80 grams, the plum-shaped fruits are the industry standard for both the fresh market and whole-peeled canning. The firm skin structure ensures excellent shelf life and transportability, allowing the tomatoes to withstand long-distance logistics without bruising or losing quality. The balanced sugar-to-acid ratio, combined with a vibrant red color, makes Frambo a highly competitive product in the retail sector, where visual quality is a primary driver of consumer preference.
